CORA helps administrate a selection of paddlers to compete in the International Va’a Federation (IVF) World Championships where we compete as Team Canada.

The International Va’a Federation was created in 1981 and has been organizing the IVF Va’a World Sprint Championships every two years in different locations around the outrigger padding world.  

The International Va’a Federation have created a new and exciting event that will commence from 2017. It will be known as the IVF Va’a World Distance Championship.

IVF World Sprint Championships

Canadians have been racing in the IVF World Sprint’s since the late 1980’s and hosted the World Sprints in Calgary in 2012.  Some great race stories have been written about what it was like for the paddlers.

IVF World Distance Championships

The Distance event will also take place every two years, on the opposite years to the Sprint event commencing Tahiti in 2017.
